Babergh District Council / Mid Suffolk District Council

Head of Strategic Policy, Performance and Improvement

£54,850 - £61,931 + benefits

Location: Hybrid working

Two ambitious councils. One shared vision. Join us as a Head of Strategic Policy, Performance and Improvement and you’ll get the chance to exert your strategic influence across an innovative partnership.

Since 2011, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils have been working together to deliver services and meet the challenges facing local government. Thanks to this future-focused arrangement, you’ll have the opportunity to make an impact across two fantastic Councils’.

As Head of Strategic Policy, Performance and Improvement, you’ll head up a new team with a broad and exciting remit. Together, you’ll tackle everything from change and transformation, to business planning and performance management, along with risk and insight. Crucially, your responsibilities will include analysing policy changes and developing an evidence base to support the Councils’ shared priorities. With your support and advice, senior leaders can set strategic direction and take both councils into the future.

To join us, you’ll need a background in policy and strategic development, plus the drive to learn about other areas of the role. The more expertise you can bring, the better – but you don’t have to know it all. A relevant degree (or equivalent), with an MBA or similar postgraduate qualification for example, is ideal, however continued professional development and learning is as important, and it’s great people skills that will really help you excel.

Collaborative and inspiring, you’ll win the support of councillors, senior leaders and your dedicated team. By fostering strong working relationships, you’ll influence, advise and explain complex issues so everyone understands. This will be critical as you lead colleagues on an improvement journey. Join us in a wide-ranging role, in a beautiful part of the country. Find out more and apply.
