The Safeguarding and Early Help Service pride themselves on a solid and a high preforming management and staff team, that has been built solidly on both longevity of employees and collaborative teamwork.
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen within the Central Bedfordshire Safeguarding Service to join their senior management team as the Head of Specialist Services - Front Door Services, MASH and Youth Support Service, also act as CBC lead for Youth Offending Service a shared service with Bedford Borough.
The Head of Specialist Services is a strategic management role that offers a genuine and rare blend of responsibility, that includes the more traditional routed areas within Front Door Services, MASH and Assessment. However, in this key post you will be the single point of contact for exploitation alongside responsibility for the Youth Support Service offering across Central Bedfordshire; including NEET, Youth Centres, Youth Parliament and CiC council.

With the projection of an increase in demand and complexity of cases, the post holder will have extensive experience of leading complex safeguarding situations and a passion for delivering first class services to Central Bedfordshire children and families.
This role is vital to ensure the delivery of direct intervention to children and families for the purpose of statutory duties, on behalf of the Council. The post holder will work closely with the Locality Heads of Service and the Registered Manager for the three residential units.
You will possess strong leadership skills, transformational vision and the ability to create and deliver strategic plans, working with partners both within and external to the Council. You will be responsible for shaping a progressive and innovative service to enable great outcomes for children and you team.
You will lead Safeguarding Front Door Services; your inherited team of valued staff hold an enormous amount of professional experience and skill. Your team will understand social work and multi-agency practice. However, you will provide structure, organisation and clear management direction, leading by the front with passion and by example driving forward best practice at all times.
A talented people manager, mentor and influencer. Multi agency work is key, you will have experience managing and influencing multi-functional teams and stakeholders in both the public, private/voluntary sector.

You will be a QSW, hold a Social Work degree & be HCPC registered
You will have extensive social work safeguarding practice supervision experience at a management level, or you will be a talented Service Manager looking for their next elevated move within their career.
You will be passionate about social work and will ensure multi-agency safeguarding practices are consistent and persistent in driving practice improvement.
