Environmental Enforcement Manager
Something exciting is happening at the London Borough of Lewisham. We’re creating a whole new Commercial Operations Service in our Public Realm division. The new Service will help us meet the community's needs and achieve our strategic priorities through an ambitious programme of work. If you’re a capable leader with a business mind, join our newly created team.
As an Environmental Enforcement Manager, you’ll have a central role to play. We want you to lead an effective, efficient, and responsive Environmental Enforcement Team throughout the Borough, meeting the high standards we’ve set ourselves. In practice, it means day-to-day management of colleagues, agency workers and other service providers. With your encouragement and experience, you’ll drive high performance, especially when it comes to tackling environmental nuisance and crime cases.
Our residents are relying on you, so it’s important to review and deploy the resources at your disposal astutely. Together with your team, you’ll use enforcement powers, education, and encouragement to achieve the best outcomes. Whatever the task, you’ll make sure we comply with relevant legislation, including Health & Safety rules and the Council’s statutory Street Markets Licensing regime. Best practice? You wrote the book on it.
Ready to manage a team of officers who provide our front-line response? If so, you’ll need experience in a similar leadership role within Environmental Enforcement. With this background, you’ll understand the challenges facing local government and the importance of political awareness. You’ll also know just how crucial communication is, as you deal with a range of contacts.
Good with people and great at building relationships, you’ll be an inspiring, degree-qualified or experienced leader. Now’s the time to bring your talent to a place where it can make its mark. Join us at Lewisham Council. Apply now.
