Building Safety Manager

Salary: £49,674 - £52,746 + Market Supplement of £5000

Build safety into everything we do

Taking a lead role here in our new team, you’ll soon discover that your ability to empathise with residents and to really listen to their needs, is as important as your technical knowledge and housing experience. As a Building Safety Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring Newham Council complies with all current regulations with regards to building safety and promotes and communicates building safety throughout the organisation and with residents within our high rise residential buildings.

Help deliver the change to keep our residents safe

The work we need to do is far-reaching and varied. We have more than 80 high-rise blocks and a large number of low-rise buildings in the Borough. So the portfolio offers unique challenges and opportunities – you will work with the other members of the Building Safety Team to develop the role of the Building Safety Manager and help us create the operational structure and individual competences to ensure compliance with the Building Safety Bill. Within this setting, you’ll take responsibility for delivering the requirements of the building safety cases for a designated number of buildings ensuring that all building safety arrangements are satisfactory and residents are fully informed and consulted on matters relating to the safety of their building.

Use your skills to inspire and develop our service

You’ll need a specialist knowledge to help you deliver the requirements of this role and also be willing to undertake further training to support the development of the role of Building Safety Manager. You should have a recognised fire qualification and also have a professional qualification in a relevant discipline. You will have a clear focus on building safety and a passion for ensuring that residents are at the heart of the process. Knowledgeable, enthusiastic and a willingness to learn are key attributes for the successful candidate.
