Building Safety Manager

Salary: £48,819 - £51,837

Build safety into everything we do

Taking a lead role here in our new team, you’ll soon discover that your ability to empathise with residents and to really listen to their needs, is as important as your technical knowledge and housing experience. You’ll oversee the co-ordination and management of everything relating to structural and fire safety within our housing asset portfolio. From ensuring our work is meeting the new legislative requirements, to delivering change that is inspired by the real needs of our residents, you’ll help us to build safety into everything we do.

Deliver the change that protects lives

The work we need to do is far-reaching and varied. We have more than 80 high-rise blocks and a large number of low-rise buildings in the Borough. So, the portfolio offers unique challenges and opportunities – informed by the results of our External Wall Systems survey. Within this setting, you’ll take responsibility for Safety Case preparation, structural and fire work, and Fire Safety procedures – promoting and communicating their importance within high-rise and high-risk buildings. In short, you’ll help to protect lives.

Use your skills to inspire innovation in the industry

You’ll need a specialist knowledge of LACORS, RRO 2005, National Fire Safety Guidance on Purpose Built Blocks and on Specialised Housing. You should have a recognised fire qualification, for example CFPA Level 4 Diploma, MIFE, NEBOSH Fire or similar, too. You’ll be confident working on construction projects right through from initial planning to occupation. And you’ll be familiar with researching, developing and implementing policy and strategy, and have an excellent knowledge of building pathology, construction methods and materials – as well as the relevant regulations. CIOB or RICS, and IFE membership will be essential.
