Surveyor – Fire Safety

Salary: £37,722 - £40,869

Improve safety and protect lives

Taking a lead role here in our new team, you’ll soon discover that your ability to empathise with residents and to really listen to their needs, is as important as your technical knowledge and housing experience. You’ll oversee our technical surveying service – taking responsibility for all the technical aspects of repair, maintenance, improvement and re-servicing of Council owned, managed and leased properties. From the inspection of buildings to specify remedial works arising from the Fire Risk Assessment process to managing a specialist team of surveyors and support staff, you’ll ensure all our residents are safe in their homes.

Inspire innovation across the Borough

The work we need to do is far-reaching and varied. We have more than 80 high-rise blocks and a large number of low-rise buildings in the Borough. So, the portfolio offers unique challenges and opportunities. Within this setting, you’ll develop new approaches for driving improvement – establishing innovative solutions that are efficient and effective. Clearly, Fire Safety will be a key focus for you – and you’ll work closely with contractors, strategic alliance partners and residents to keep it at the heart of every project.

Use your skills to drive change

Bringing with you experience of building inspection and Fire Safety, and excellent negotiation skills, you’ll share our commitment to creating safe homes and working with the people who live in them. You’ll be confident working with a range of stakeholders and have an expert knowledge of building pathology, construction methods and materials – as well as the relevant regulations, including HHSRS legislation. A relevant HND, degree or HNC level qualification, for example in Building Technology, Fire Risk Assessment or Repairs, and CIOB/RICS, and IFE membership will be essential.
