Housing Solutions Manager

Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse, and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council. We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space, and rapid transport connections into the heart of the City.

As our Housing Solutions Manager, you’ll have a preventative and innovative approach to homelessness. Yes, it’s a challenge, but you won’t be tackling it alone. Join us, and you’ll have the chance to lead and shape a highly skilled and knowledgeable team.

Leading the Housing Solutions service, you’ll provide a full range of advice on housing options in the private and public sectors. The goal is to prevent homelessness with your teams through effective tools and initiatives and a robust approach to demand management decision making while observing legislation and implementing effective quality assurance.  You’ll manage complex budgets including our homelessness prevention grant and you will be at the forefront of services delivered to meet a range of legislation, for instance, the 1996 Housing Act, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, and Welfare Reform to name a few.

By delivering an effective, professional, and innovative homelessness prevention service, you’ll be at the forefront of the field, mitigating the impact of welfare reforms and root causes of homelessness.

You’ll also ensure that we deliver a compliant service which will require extensive experience in managing demand to deliver high quality, consistent advice to those seeking assistance.

Another aspect of the role will be putting systems in place to assess vulnerable residents who are at risk, or who are experiencing homelessness. And of course, you’ll manage everyday operations, in a fast paced and highly demanding service – you’ll guide and develop your team members.

To join us, you must be degree-educated (or equivalent) with a professional housing qualification and membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing. You’ll also bring broad experience of customer care and working with people who are homeless. With this background, you’ll have substantial housing knowledge covering relevant legislation, the government’s reform programme and budget management. And naturally, you’ll be the kind of manager who can connect easily with team members, partners, and other contacts.

Ultimately, the aim is to prevent and relieve homelessness by thinking creatively. If you’ve got the experience and imagination required, we’d like to hear from you.
