Housing Supply Manager

Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse, and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council. We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, housing, high-quality open space, and rapid transport connections into the heart of the City.

As our Housing Supply Manager, you’ll help us tackle emerging changes to increase and secure accommodation and manage a compliant temporary accommodation portfolio and housing register – however, this is no ordinary housing role. It’s your chance to think imaginatively when it comes to housing supply. Want to make your mark in Redbridge? Get ready to lead and innovate.

Your main task will be to oversee the procurement and management of temporary accommodation, allocations, and the housing register. It’s an opportunity to work directly with private sector and housing association providers, but there’s more to this position than that. You’ll need significant experience of managing budgets and innovation that creates value for money.

In this specialist role, you’ll be at the forefront of services delivered to meet a range of legislation, for instance, the 1996 Housing Act and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. Working with Housing Supply teams, you’ll focus particularly on developing new and innovative solutions to make sure housing needs are met. You will lead on the management of temporary accommodation on behalf of the authority, ensuring repairs, compliance and health and safety concerns are monitored and maintained, and that we are meeting our legal responsibilities. You will also lead on ensuring that the supply of good quality affordable housing through both the private sector and other sectors are maintained to our very high standard.

Your work will involve transforming the Acquisitions team and enhancing our allocations and lettings service. The emphasis should be on adaptability and customer focus.

To join us, you must be degree-educated (or equivalent) with a professional housing qualification and membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing. You’ll also need a track record in a similar role where you’ve managed and procured temporary accommodation and delivered relevant services. You’ll have a wealth of experience with housing supply initiatives and knowledge in housing legislation and welfare form in the public and private sector.  If you’re collaborative and good with people, this could be your next career step.

If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please contact our recruitment partners at Penna Andreas Efthymiou on 07546 415 794, or via email at Andreas.Efthymiou@penna.com
