Recycling Manager – Neighbourhoods & Environment

Here at Waltham Forest, we want to make a difference: to the planet, our community, and to the lives of local people. We’re currently looking for a Recycling Manager who’s as dedicated as we are to making our borough greener. If you’re motivated and degree-educated (or equivalent) you’ll have a tremendous opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Exciting. Forward-thinking. Dynamic. That’s the borough of Waltham Forest. We strive to deliver excellence and value for money through all our services. Joining the Waste & Recycling team within our Place Directorate, you’ll make our borough safer, cleaner and healthier by leading our recycling agenda. It’s a fast-paced world, but you won’t be fazed. In fact, you’ll thrive on the challenge.

At this level, you’ll be expected lead your team, achieve value for money and ensure that relevant legislation is met. It’s a busy role, but you’ll have your team behind you, supporting you all the way. Together, you’ll aim to reduce the amount of waste per property and improve recycling rates through an effective communication strategy. You’ll also be our resident recycling expert, giving advice across the council and developing policy.

If you’re ready for a role where every day is different, this could be the place for you. To join us, you’ll need substantial experience within the Waste and Recycling industry, in-depth knowledge of national and local policy and great communication skills. With this skillset, you’ll be a credible professional, dealing with stakeholders both within and outside the council. A people-person, you can connect at different levels and build relationships quickly.

Above all, you’ll be a natural problem solver who finds solutions through collaboration. Organised, with a gift for implementing new services and winning grant funding, you’ll be the key to cleaner, greener borough.
