The towns in our area are centres of dynamic growth, and we’re looking for a Town Centre Regeneration Manager to lead and support the development and delivery of ambitious, high profile regeneration projects.

Join us in this role, and you’ll begin by supporting the creation of Vision and Regeneration Plans for Totton and then developing bespoke approaches to support our towns across the Forest thrive into the future.

Your focus will be on making our town centres attractive and accessible places where people want to live, work, shop, learn and spend their leisure time. With this in mind, you’ll engage with a range of stakeholders.

You will help to commission work that supports the development and implementation of the projects, and drawing on specialist expertise when required, you’ll lead briefings on projects to governance boards, cabinet and council meetings, and prepare relevant reports. You will work closely with teams across the Exec Head area and the rest of the Council to build effective relationships, we’ll also expect you to work collaboratively with your colleagues and our external partners.

To be a success in this role you should possess the following:

  • A degree or its equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Experience of regeneration, planning or development surveying
  • The ability to translate national policy direction and strategic objectives into practical plans and action
  • A track record of delivering major regeneration projects
  • Knowledge of legislation and best practice relating to regeneration, sustainability, economic, social, and environmental wellbeing
  • Experience of procuring contractors and consultants to deliver projects operating under varied contractual models
  • Knowledge and experience of successfully securing external grant funding from government and other agencies
  • Experience of working with external stakeholders, including consultants and developers
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Evidence of a strong working knowledge and experience of delivering development projects of varying scale and complexity to agreed quality, time and budget, with associated understanding of risk management frameworks
  • Experience of negotiating complex matters and recommending courses of action
  • The skills to deliver in a political context
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing programmes with evidence of successful results at a senior level.

You’ll be required to travel to sites and undertake physical surveys at locations across the New Forest, so you must be able to travel using public or other forms of transport where they are viable, or by holding a valid UK driving licence with access to your own or a pool car.

We offer a range of benefits including:

  • 27 days annual leave
  • Smarter flexible working (approx. 50% - 50% office/remote working to meet service and stakeholder requirements)
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Free and confidential Employee Assistance Programme
  • Performance points available for exceptional performance up to £51,538
