As a professionally qualified Accountant, you’ve used your strategic management skills to support a CFO before or be looking to make that move into this position. If you’re looking for a change and want to have the scope to use your skills to the full then come and join us. As part of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to directly impact a variety of services and influence at corporate level. And you’ll do it all in the stunning surroundings of the beautiful North Norfolk.

As Assistant Director for Finance and Assets, you’ll join the Council’s Management team and help to deliver our Corporate Plan. Upholding a customer-focused, performance-driven culture, you’ll lead internal teams, managers, team leaders and staff across Finance, Revenues, Assets and Property Services. You’ll also deputise for the Council’s S151 Officer, and in recognition of  that you’ll receive an extra £2,500 allowance.

You'll have a wide range of responsibilities in this role as you'll be managing the Finance Team who look after all the finance functions you'd expect i.e. for revenue and capital, along with procurement, accounts payable and accounts receivable, insurance, treasury management and risk management. You’ll also be looking after the Assets and Estates team and the Property Services team so you’ll be providing the lead on the strategic development of the Council’s assets and adopting a commercial approach in how they are used. To be successful in this role you’ll need a relevant Accountancy qualification and membership of a CCAB body, preferably CIPFA and be a driven, commercially-minded person with an understanding of local government finance frameworks. Whilst this technical expertise is key so are your people skills. You’ll be connecting with a wide range of contacts, so clear communication will be essential. You’ll know how to manage stakeholders, work with peers and inspire teams to perform. If you can influence, persuade and negotiate, you could be the person we want.

Join us, and you’ll be working with a warm, friendly team in one of the country’s most picturesque areas – and that’s not all. In addition to a wide range of benefits, you’ll receive a £5,000 Golden Hello.

If this sounds like you then  there’s a fantastic role waiting for you, with a reward package that reflects your skills. Join us, and play your part in supporting the residents and businesses in North Norfolk and in helping to shape the environment and place they live and thrive.
