The role:

As Head of Construction, you’ll lead our team to deliver refurbished and new build construction projects for the people of Oxford. Responsible for operational and commercial management, you’ll provide an efficient and cost-effective service to customers within and outside the council. 

It’s a chance to turn our exciting portfolio of new homes and large-scale projects into reality with the help of a skilled team. A capable leader, you’ll manage all aspects of Design and Build contracts, compliance and bid and risk control processes. Day to day, you’ll be doing everything from supporting your team and reporting figures to preparing tenders and inspecting sites. Ultimately, you’ll be the driving force behind growth, developing the ODS brand and income streams in line with strategy.

About you:

It’s important that you have experience in Construction (operational or commercial) and a track record of managing new build and major projects of between £200k-£6m. Thanks to this background, you’ll have extensive knowledge of Health & Safety and CDM, and relevant legislation. You’ll also know how to manage works under JCT/NEC Contracts and Design Build Contracts. And finally, you’ll be adept at managing both operational and commercial teams, including contract managers, quantity surveyors and estimators.
