You’ll make sure we’re ready, whatever the future brings

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, shaping services for our community. Contingency planning is a complex, ongoing challenge, but you’ll have the support to bring progress. With our executive team behind you, you’ll aim for excellence across organisational and community resilience. Join us, and help our Council lead the way in a critical area.

The Role

As our principal advisor on emergency planning and business continuity, you’ll have a central role. Your goal will be to uphold and develop Council arrangements through a small Resilience Team. Working with an internal Resilience network of 200 staff, you’ll assess risks, put in place plans, work with our talented communities and regional partners and coordinate responses to major incidents. With your proven expertise, you’ll provide our Chief Executive and leaders with professional, specialist guidance.

Crucially, you’ll also drive continuous improvement, making our team an example of best practice. Through training and awareness, you’ll make resilience part of everyone’s remit.

About you

Putting residents first is at the heart of what we do and is paramount to the success of our service. To succeed in this high-profile role, you’ll need prior experience in Resilience or a track record that demonstrates you can learn the job at speed and work to deliver our outcomes. You’ll have the ability to manage emergency planning and business continuity to respond at both a tactical and a strategic level. Someone who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously is imperative, and communication is just as important. It’s vital that you can network and connect with a wide range of colleagues and partners. Proactive and collaborative, you’ll have finely tuned political sense and gift for anticipating issues. With these well-developed people skills, you’ll inspire the trust of our senior leaders.

In return, you will be part of a critical team with a vision to be one of the best resilience teams in London, with the resources and executive backing to get us there. You can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
