Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council prides itself on being a great place to work where staff are trusted, valued and supported to make a positive contribution at work.

Are you searching for your next challenge? Have you a desire to make a difference? Would you like to work in a forward-thinking Finance Department? Are you skilled in providing strategic support to a range of Senior Officers but also have a willingness to challenge the status quo?

If the answers to the above questions are a resounding “yes” then we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities of this post will include the co-ordination and development of the Council’s wide-ranging and ambitious Capital Programme covering over £270m of approved schemes. You will be required to co-ordinate and retain oversight for investments ranging from Schools to Transport and Parks to Children’s homes alongside unprecedented levels of intervention covering regeneration schemes across our towns on the back of securing Levelling Up, Future High Streets and Town Deal monies.

You will be the primary point of contact with responsibility for providing strategic financial advice on a range of matters to the Director of the recently constituted Regeneration and Inclusive Growth Directorate. This is a superb opportunity to come in and be part of this new adventure from the start as we look to ensure financial support is robust. The role will be critical in ensuring financial considerations are at the heart of any decision making process through the production of business cases, options appraisals and the analysis of delivery vehicles for a number of high profile interventions.

Ensuring established relationships with a range of stakeholders continue to grow and develop, as well as creating new ones forms a critical part of the role.

As an organisation that places a strong emphasis on growing and developing staff to future-proof Services, we expect the successful candidate to both drive their own development but also keep a keen eye on being able to support all staff to ‘be the best version of themselves’ as they progress through their careers.

This post has been identified as suitable for flexible working which enables the postholder to work a percentage of their working time away from the office.

In return we offer an excellent total reward package, including:

• A competitive salary of up to £50,512 (Including £1,925 23-24 pay award)

• Flexible Working arrangements –working onsite at our main office in central Stockton, at our other Council buildings within the borough (where appropriate), and the ability to work some of your time from home.

• 27 days annual leave per year rising to 32 with 5 years service. Ability to purchase additional leave is also available.

• Generous Pension Scheme through the LGPS with ability to pay extra and plan for retirement

• Access to a number of employee benefits including an employee counselling service, Physiotherapy, salary sacrifice Car Lease Scheme and more.
