About the role

This is your chance to grow a new team that will work alongside local residents to design health and care services in the heart of London. You’ll help shape and influence our direction, and drive forward the new adult social care and public health agenda. Acting with integrity and maintaining the highest standards, you’ll develop and implement expert design practices. Plus, striving for continuous improvement, you’ll bring the drive and strategic vision to create an exciting new future for local services.

Bringing new skills and approaches, you’ll enhance our approach to user experience research, while striving to reduce inequalities in everything that you do. With a clear approach to delivering change, you’ll ensure design processes lead to effective services by collaborating with residents, providers and partners. What’s more, in this newly designed role, you’ll bring a fresh culture and approach – working across two organisations that are determined to keep people at the heart of everything we do.

About you

With a degree or equivalent experience, you’ll equip the service – and your team – to use data and insight from a range of sources. You’re also big on collaboration and that will be crucial to liaising closely with internal and external stakeholders, carers, customers and providers. You have a keen eye for talent and so you’ll be comfortable recruiting and developing a team that will deliver our organisational objectives. More than that, you’re willing to take ownership of your own – and your team’s – ongoing development to maintain and enhance your professional growth.

About us

We’re the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the City of Westminster. While we operate independently and have our own goals and ambitions, we’ve come together to create this bi-borough role for the good of the communities we serve. As the Head of Care Design, you’ll work across both councils to build a highly effective, sustainable service design department. The work you do will allow residents and service users the opportunity to maintain their independence and wellbeing, easily access relevant services, and receive wholistic support, enabling them to live at home and within the local community for as long as possible.
