Team Leader Planning Development Management
Salary: £42,821 - £44,863

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your team leading skills in a varied role that has significant impact on sustainable development across Warwickshire.

Your role

You’ll be leading, motivating and supporting a small team that facilitates the approval, monitoring and enforcement of planning applications for minerals and waste developments, and schools and transport infrastructure. From advising developers on minimising the impact of developments, to preparing committee reports and handling any resultant appeals, the team has a major influence on sustainable development across the county. This includes ensuring compliance with planning permissions, investigating potential breaches and recommending action where necessary.

As well as helping to deliver the whole planning agenda, from application to committee, you’ll also work with senior leaders to bring innovation to our service delivery. This means you’ll be liaising with a range of people, from statutory partners and service providers to the voluntary sector and the public.

Your skills and experience

You’ll have extensive experience of planning development management, with strong knowledge of planning legislation, local authority planning processes, and relevant government policy. You’ll also need practical experience of preparing, presenting and defending planning recommendations in regulatory committees, public inquiries and courts.

An articulate communicator, with the ability to get people on your side, you’ll be used to resolving disputes by negotiating with developers, statutory bodies and other stakeholders to reach well-balanced planning solutions. With a degree in town planning or a related subject, you’ll also be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

What we offer

We believe in investing in our people and offer a variety of opportunities for skills and career development. With a variety of benefits, including a contributory pension, flexible working and generous annual leave, you’ll find Warwickshire is a rewarding place to build your career in.
