Join the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority as a Senior Commercial Lawyer — Shape the Future of Our Region!

The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority (MCA) is on the lookout for three dynamic Senior Commercial Lawyers to join our forward-thinking Legal team.

This is a truly exciting moment to become part of the MCA. Over the past year, we’ve secured nearly £750 million in new investment to transform the region. From revolutionizing transport and infrastructure, boosting skills and housing, to tackling the climate emergency head-on and empowering our communities — the MCA is driving change that matters.

What you’ll be doing:

• Acting as the go-to legal expert on high-value, complex projects, ensuring compliance and delivering sharp, strategic advice on commercial contracts, procurement, and grant funding.

• Navigating governance frameworks, statutory duties, and decision-making processes to keep projects moving forward on time and within legal risk boundaries.

• Leading the negotiation, drafting, and management of major commercial contracts, and coordinating with external legal teams as needed.

• Providing proactive, trusted legal counsel to senior leaders, stakeholders, and partners — enabling confident decision-making and successful delivery.

Who we’re looking for:

Are you an experienced commercial lawyer with deep expertise in contracts, procurement law, and grant funding? Can you thrive in a complex, politically sensitive environment, balancing risk management with strategic insight? Do you bring strong leadership skills and a track record of driving successful outcomes?

If you’re ready to make a real impact and help shape the future of the West of England, we want to hear from you!
